The Humboldt Air/Water Bladder Cylinder is used to deliver pressurized de-aired water to the triaxial cell. The bladder acts as an reservoir and interface between the compressed air, used asthe pressure source, and the deaired water, which is used as the pressurizing medium for the sample. The use of the bladder eliminates the reintroduction of air into the de-aired water, while providing a high-degree of accuracy. The cylinder will operate continuously to a maximum pressure of 150 psi (1000 kPa). It is constructed of anodized aluminum top and bottom plates, acrylic cylinder and a viton bladder.
