The apparatus is used in specification tests of masonry cement and physical testing of quicklime and hydrated lime. These tests include: ASTM D1506, ASTM C110 and ASTM C207. This test method provides a means for determining the ability of mortars and plasters to retain water under suction. Test results may be used to determine compliance with specifications. The results obtained using this test method can be used to compare the relative ability of mortars and plasters to retain water under suction.
